Yeah - this and apparent incompatibilities with SQL Server 2005/Express did in Vista for me. I live in those apps, and if I can't run them safely - well...
Also, Vista breaks many ISO image mounters. Nero released a 'Vista Compatible' version which was rendered compatible mostly by the removal of ImageDrive. VirtualCloneCD is free - and it kinda works in Vista - but it's not nearly as stable as it is in XP.
The latest version of Alcohol 120% works fine for me in terms of imaging software. Maybe you should try that.
Overall i haven't had any real issues with vista (its more crash proof than XP and if it does crash revoring usually fixes things)
The only issue i have is ATI's Catalyst Drivers (i have dual Radeon X80GT's) there were bugs while testing in RC2 and RTM. Since ATI released their updated drivers things have been stable.
